Ok where to start with Counterstrike Source (or CSS) It was the 2nd ever game I ever played online I played it for 3 years with being many clans but mainly for pub anyways lets get started on this review Game play What I find unique and different about counter strike is the fact that its not just another DM (death match game) you have 2 types of game play Hostistage situation In this game type you have 2 teams (Counter Terrorists and Terrorists) The T's have to defend the hostages while the CT's has to rescue them if the CT's get to the Hostages and start running back to spawn the T's have to kill off all the Remaining CT's off the CT's have 2 objectives for this game type one kill off all the T's or rescue all the hostages either or will win the match. Bomb situation In this game type you also have 2 objectives as CT's defuse the bomb or kill off all the enemies where as the T's in this game type have a choice of 2 game types of bomb location on the map so they have 2 objectives Objective 1: find a bombsite that’s difficult to find the bomb (which can be done but can be difficult) Objective 2: when the bomb has been planted defend the bomb at all costs Now my problem with the game play of CSS is a few reasons I will note these down now 1) Hackers (aimbots,wallhacks I could go on) 2) Campers They always camp on locations across the maps and can be very annoying. Game engine now its nice to look at and you can play CSS on most PC's at high settings but its getting out dated by game engines like • Cry 2 (made by Crytek and used in Crysis)  Euphoria (used in Grand Theft Auto IV)  Unreal 3 (used in games such as Gears of War, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2) In my own opinion the physics and game engine in counter strike source are pretty good for the year it was made in but as Steam have been saying they are using the engine for the next 15 years and is already kind of out of date Sound The sound is not bad but it could be improved and this game needs sound as you need to know where the footsteps are coming from as this game relies on sound. End result I would give this game 7.5 out of 10 as this game is way over hyped also the community of counter strike is not really a nice bunch of people who are always harsh to new players, also another negative about this game is the amount of downloads you have to go though to join most servers and apparently a lot of the community hack so it can be annoying at time and you have to set your own rates in the game to properly play it. but on the plus side their is a few decent mods for this game such as zombie mod which is fun also gun game which is a plus also if your looking for a game to play in the competition scene this game is it as its one of the biggest games at LAN events such as UK's I series and Quake con and if you take away all the annoying things such as hackers and campers and all the server downloads you have a pretty nice game to play with I would at least say give this game a chance as its ok to play with as long as you don’t mind the 14 year old probably not past puberty lot shouting "Noob" down mic every 5 seconds.
